| The Impossible Fiction of Tradition |
Part 3: Installation 2007
Table, chairs, Welsh toffee, 4 speakers, audio 7 min loop
Solo Exhibition at the Oriel Davies Gallery |
The Impossible Fiction of Tradition looks at the multi-layered nature of tradition. During my residency in Wales I discovered a local traditional toffee known as gyflaith. The traditional method of making it used to be commonplace in this area, but is slowly disappearing. In the installation the table surface is covered in shiny, sweet smelling gyflaith. The installation is accompanied by the audio piece I took My Song to Market. |
